Here you will find the recipe for my Bavarian style potato salad…
For the Bavarian style potato salad you need:
Potato salad - bavarian style
Bavarian style of Potato Salad consists mainly of potato, bacon, eggs, pickled cucumbers and onion. The potato salad is seasoned with vinegar, oil, vegetable stock and some spices. In the south of German it is on the main potato salads eaten.
Cook the potatoes in a pressure cooker until they are cooked through and then let the potatoes cook and peel the skin off. After this cut the potatoes into small rings and put them in a big bowl.
Cut the onion and the pickled gherkin into small squares after you are finished add them into the bowl.
Now peel the hard boiled eggs and use an egg slicer and cut the eggs twice (once from top to bottom and once from left to right) so you receive small cubes. After they are cut add them to the bowl.
Now you need to fry the bacon until it is golden brown. After the bacon is finished leave it in the pan an add 1 cup of water. Leave the water bacon mixture in the pan for a little while (1-2 minutes) until the water turns a little coloured.
Add the vegetable stock cube into the pan so it will dissolve. Then add the mixture of bacon, water, vegetable stock into the bowl where the potato, egg, pickled gherkin mixture are inside.
Now spice it up with a little pepper and chili (optional) and add a little bit of the vinegar from the pickled gherkin glass. Remember the bacon and vegetable stock already has lots of salt so usually you do not need more salt.
The potato salad is almost finished. Stir the potato salad very well and then it is finished. You can eat the salad now, but it also tastes good when the salad is allowed to rest a little (1-2 hours) then the taste intensives.
